2020 Advanced FBC Significant Code Changes = 1 C.E. Hour (Adv Module/Tec)

This course presents the significant code changes from the 2017 Florida Building Code (6th Edition) to the 2020 Florida Building Code (7th Edition).  This course highlights the differences and includes the most significant Florida specific changes. 

Construction Contracting in Florida = 1 C.E. Hour (BSP/Gen)

This course addresses the importance of a contract in the construction industry.  Contract formation, whether written or oral, and contract terms, whether express or implied will be discussed.  Standard form construction contracts such as the AIA as well as common construction provisions will also be examined.  Contractors will learn the current statutory requirements for residential construction contracts and recommended notice of defect provision for residential and commercial construction contracts.

Construction Laws/Licensing Navigating Chapter 489 = 1 C.E. Hour (L&R)

This course addresses the importance of Chapter 489 to the contractor.  The purpose of Chapter 489 as well as exemptions to the law will be discussed.  Differences between the types and divisions of contracting, as well as certified and registered contractors will be examined.  The current significant statutory requirements of licensed individuals, businesses and qualifying agents will also be examined.

Construction Trends = 1 C.E. Hour (Gen)

This course covers construction trends affecting the contractor.  The course covers how the demand for labor is making the search for qualified workers challenging.  Additionally, the rise of construction costs will be examined.  The trend toward smart cities and interconnectivity will be shown.  This course also covers the purpose of resilient construction projects and the creative use of materials.  Finally, alternative supply chain solutions will be discussed.

Electric Signs & Outline Lighting = 2. C.E. Hours (Technical)

The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of Article 600 – Electric Signs & Outline Lighting, and the structural considerations that should be taken when performing these installations.   

Florida Lien Law = 1 C.E. Hour (BSP/Gen)

This course addresses the importance of Chapter 713 to the contractor.  The purpose of Chapter 713 as applied to owners and contractors will be discussed.  Differences between the types of lienors and exemptions will be examined.  Contractors will learn the current statutory requirements and timelines for the notice of commencement, notice to owner and claims of lien.

Green Building Basics = 1 C.E. Hour (Gen)

This Green Building Basics continuing education course covers a wide range of sustainable construction topics including green building materials, energy efficiency and the LEED certification program. 

Growing Your Construction Workforce = 1 C.E. Hour (Gen)

This course addresses important construction workforce issues to the contractor.  The challenges of construction hiring activity and the processes to find employees will be examined.  Also, this course will discuss growing your workforce from within through various promotional techniques.  Finding quality subcontractors to supplement your workforce and how to examine their abilities will also be discussed.

Plans & Specifications Reading/Interpretation = 2 C.E. Hours (Technical)

The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge of basic information available on plans and specifications and how to use that information to complete an electrical installation.

Pool Contractors-1 Hour Electrical = 1 C.E. Hour (PEC)

This course will cover Article 680 of the NEC Requirements relating to Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and Hydromassage Baths.

Safe Construction Practices = 1 C.E. Hour (WPS)

This course addresses construction safety practices important to the contractor.  Goals of safety training will be identified.  Construction safety statistics from the DOL and OSHA will be explained.  Achieving OSHA compliance by reviewing standards and compliance will be covered.  Also, how to keep employees safe through education and training programs will be taught.

Safety Program Goals = 1 C.E. Hour (WPS)

This course addresses construction safety issues important to the contractor.  Goals if safety training as well as achieving OSHA compliance through safety programs will be identified and explained.  Employee protection, achieving OSHA compliance and examining frequently cited OSHA violations will be covered.  Also, how to reduce costs to contractors by adhering to safety standards and creating a culture of workplace safety will be taught.

Unwanted Alarm Prevention = 2 C.E. Hours (FAP)

The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge of unwanted (false) alarm prevention for fire alarm systems and to provide basic knowledge of inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems. 

Wiring & Protection = 1 C.E. Hour (Technical)

The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the National Electric Code Chapter 2.  Review various protection methods including GFCI, AFCI, overcurrent and overvoltage.  NEC Chapter 2 covers the use and identification of grounded conductors, providing requirements for identification of terminals, wiring systems and grounded conductors. 

Wiring Methods & Materials = 1 C.E. Hour (Technical)

The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the National Electric Code Chapter 3.  This course will cover Article 300 on the various wiring methods and materials and explain requirements for each type.
